Buzz

The Colorado Mountain Bike State Championships @ Snowmass Colorado have come & gone with a few questions still in the air. State Champions were named but a few results are still in question. One thing that is not in question is that the Mountain Cross racing on Saturday was tight. Yeti brought out the big hitters from both their World Cup & National level talent & Oskar Blues created a riotous scene with more beer can chicken & brew than you can chase a big freakin' stick at. The scene was out of control & the racing was elbow to elbow on a super tough course.

It's been a while since the last update & too much has happened to tell. The Oskar Blues RV hit the road with Lyons very own Uncle Earl Bluegrass Band hitting gigs from Colorado to New York..
We are stomping our feet at the fact that in addition to our line of BIG READY BEER we have added the fantastic aroma & buzz of DAZBOG coffee. Stop in to Oskar Blues before your ride for a cup of coffee & then follow the ride with a relaxing pint of our brew on our back porch.
Again we load up with Brew & Chicken on our way to Mountain States Cup race #5 in Telluride Colorado. We will be & sure you will too be going Full Tilt in Telluride. Come & join the Dale's Pale Ale Awards Party @ Tracks Bar and Grill right next to the plaza. Free food and beer while it lasts.
If you remain on the Front Range this weekend be sure to hit the St. Vrain river & visit Lyons signature music festival Rockygrass @ Planet Bluegrass. Continuing our 5 night a week music calendar Oskar Blues will have additional live music Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

Saddle up & hold on, Cheers

Speed of sound

As summer 2007 continues on at the speed of sound we can only hope to keep the rubber side down. The first ever Crankworx Colorado created fireworks of it's own in the Frasier Valley over the 4th of July. Winter Park brought out the big guns for the slopestyle event on a course designed by John Cowan and the Whistler crew. It was raining riders from the heavens. Homeboy Photo Eddie & his wicked eye had a front row seat so check out his site for photo's of this sick event. The high altitude was a welcomed escape from the high temperatures of the front range.
Oskar Blues/Restone Cyclery had riders wearing the Red White & Blue at the Marathon National Championship Firecracker 50. Brian Ganzel & Ron the "flying Schu" battled mechanical & physical carnage to finish the grueling event. Here's a brief description from Schuman:
"I went to the left in the scree and the guy in front of me cut me off and down I went. I slid down about 50 feet and didn't know if I would ever stop. I got up and couldn't find my bike. It had kept tumbling all the way down to the creek. It took me forever to climb out, I almost needed a rope. Fortunately I used my camelbak as my slide pad so I minimized the damage. The rest of the ride was survival and to finish."

The weekend just wouldn't be complete without the view of Longs Peak from this side of the divide. We left the comfort of Oskar's patio(only to return post-ride) & headed west for one more epic before the lights of the 2007 fireworks fizzled.

Keep the pedal to the medal this weekend at the 7th annual Blast the Mass Mountain Bike Challenge in Aspen, CO. New for this year and in addition to its annual position on the prestigious AMBC calendar, “Blast” is a top-tier event on USA Cycling’s newly established Gravity AND Endurance National Racing Calendar (NRC). We’re also pleased to announce that we’ll be crowning the Colorado State Champion for DH, XC, MX and Super-D.
If you are kickin it in the front range this weekend please help out the local trails & volunteer at BMA's Little Raven Trail Project Saturday July 14th. We'll provide tools, materials, and construction guidance during the project and food and drinks once we're done.
