2009 Winter X 13 teaser...a few so far.

a quick glimps into the eventing...our brews are in the VIP area and are the only on tap for the games...just a few hours ago the biggest highlight from X Games 13 so far was the double back flip by Levi LaVallee aboard his Polaris snowmobile...insane! Check it out from our lens.

Bad Billie's in Aspen has our beer flowing so meet us there the rest of the weekend. It was a good few nights & Photo Eddie rode shotgun so he'll be posting some of the goods here.

Good night, we hope to get some fresh turns in early before we are consumed with Winter X...hope to see you there.

a few more from the Leadheads

Thanks for the shots guys, see you on February 7th

X games taking shape

We headed into the X Games to get our beer all set up to pour exclusively in the VIP areas. It is one heck of a spectacle, it's essentially a massive made for TV discotech set up on Buttermilk Mountian. Once the beer was set up we wondered out into the trial run madness. It was raining snowmobiles out of the sky, sorry I don't have to many shots but we are just warming up ourselves. We've also got Dale's flowing at Stubbies just down the valley in Basalt. So if you're hitting the games jump off the bus at the Basalt park & ride & walk on it to check it out. Stubbies is a nice place with a few high quality billiard tables & a nice set up. Come join the DPA bus at Stubbies & have a brew.

My camera is ready today so keep an eye here for photo's of the madness!

a little news from 10,200 ft.

Holy smokes, I had a great time in Leaville for race #1 of the Winter Mountain Bike Series yesterday. I headed up Friday evening to avoid traffic & get the rig set up at Leadville Liquors for a good night's sleep. I stopped in & said hi before heading to bed. They have us pimped out in there...rockin' our custom DPA snowboard promo, all 4 brands proudly on display as well as $1 off DPA 12-Packs with your race number.

As in the Front Range I awoke to crazy beautiful weather, unlike the Front Range we were at 10,200 ft gazing on one of the most powerful views in Colorado & racing on a mix of snow road, groomed trail & snowmobile singletrack. We had a good group of about 30 racers gathered for a 10:00 start time. It was a super fun race that ranged from 59 Minutes to 2 and a half hours for others. Chris on a pugsley took the victory & I was in second before mistakenly stopping & wandering off course 20 feet before the finish...but after figuring it out I did come in 3rd just a few seconds behind second still breaking the 1 hour mark. I ran my standard winter setup of Kenda Nevegals at fairly low pressure along with my standard 32x18.75(ish) gear ratio. It was a great set up & I only came off the bike to run twice...I also had to put a foot down once & went thigh deep. All in all not too bad as the only time I hit the snow. The race was a blast, a bunch of fun on a bike. Their were also a good number of volunteers & spectators checking it out. After the racing was done we all gathered at Rosie's to celebrate a great day on the bike & enjoy food & OB Brews during the raffle & awards. After the awards I was invited to join the folks from Cloud City Wheelers & Cycles of Life bike shop for a few more beers over some great elk taco dinner. Hot damn, a pretty full day all around complete with a very poor sounding "jam" session & a great time hanging out with the Leadheads...did I mention they like to drink??? Thanks for the hospitality...it great hospitality & even better people seem to be something consistent with being on the road in Colorado - thanks to you all!

If you missed this one because you were busy, weren't sure what to think or simply persuaded by the great weather of the Front Range you should take out a pen & mark February 7th on your calendar. It will be race number 2 of the series & will start @ 7:00 PM at the Tennessee Pass Nordic Center. Bring your lights to Tennessee Pass Nordic Center for a fast race through the trees at Ski Cooper. We're continuing the planning of a few forms on night life after the race is done. Keep an eye here along with the mtbr forums for more details as they come together. One thing is not up in the air...it will be a great freeking time. Did I mention it's the day after the 4th annual BMA membership meeting & 2 days before a FULL MOON. Yep, it's gonna be epic...don't miss it.

I'm off to grab some skate skiing before continuing onward to the Winter X Games 13 destination. Hope everyone was able to get out on two wheels this weekend, sure was a great one.

...and one heckova big colorado shout out to Katie Compton for showing she is KNOCKING ON THE DOOR of her first World Championship...congrats & best of luck!

Thanks for coming out to celebrate CX in '09

Hey all,
Thanks to all of you who came out to ride bikes in the cold of January 3rd. Boulderracing.com did a great job bringing a relaxed fun cyclocross event to the front range in the new year. Feel free to leave any good or bad comments on the weekend below so we can make sure things progress in the years to come. We had a great get together in the barn following the riding as well, so again...thanks for coming out. We're still waiting on images from Eddie the king of camera but we did have a Lyons local Jay Stott out there who has images available HERE. You can also check a bit of event info via Redstone Cyclery blog HERE...also via that blog a little insight into the following day as we checked out the area for left over debris & enjoyed the cold but good conditions on the Picture Rock trail...check it OUT HERE.

Stay tuned for images from Photo-Eddie.

Cheers!

Happy New Year...Cross Racin' this Saturday

Hope everyone out there had a fun & safe new year celebration...I know the OB event was packed! I made it out for a ride yesterday & had a good time new years eve but last week I went down on a patch of ice & wrecked my camera. so I'm a bit short of images of all the fun. Yesterday we headed north & hit the Devil's Back Bone for a windy & dry spin. These winds really seem to have dried nearly everything in the front range out. Looks like Dave at Redstone has a more details conditions report HERE on his blog.

We're looking forward to tomorrow's initial cross race of 2009(picture from redstone cyclery). Looks like today's weather is gonna be great to get out & do a couple openers in preperation for tomorrow's sufferfest. The course layout will provide some good terrain & should be a fun one. Tomorrow we'll get colder winter CX weather for the race...no worries though, come to the Oskar Blues Barn for the after party & catch some beer & food while we talk trash over some photo's from the 2008 season.

Hope to see you tomorrow,
