Escape & the DNC

SSOOOO much is going on here in OB land with the DNC in town that we are working quad overtime to keep up. This past weekend we hit the Eldora Escape right here in our own neck of the woods. The weather was kind to us this year after really crushing us last year. From there we hightailed it straight to Denver for the first event of our DNC week, the New Orleans Music and Food All-Star Jam-Balaya Benefit. It was a great event that had the who's who of New Orleans music on stage to benifit the Friends of New Orleans charitable organization. Check out a short review of the party HERE.

Tonight we'll be serving our beer at Denver's City Park, for the Democratic Party of Denver and Denver Young Democrats' free convention-watching party. The event will be from 5 to 10 p.m at the bandstand/pavillions area at the west end of City Park. It’s free to get in but will be limited to the first 3,000 people who show up. There will be loads of bands, and food and drinks (including Dale's, Old Chub, Gordon and Mama's Little Yellow Pils) will be available for purchase. No outside food or drinks will be permitted. Come see us as we enjoy beers during the DNC (unlike the delelgates on the dry Convention floor).

Also, don't forget about the 2nd Annual Osktoberfest Saturday, Sept 6th at Oskar Blues.(303 Main Street, Lyons, CO) We’ve brewed a special Ostoberfest beer this year to add to the joyous celebration. The day will include free music from 2:30 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. & will feature the music of Buckskin Stallion & the Ash Ganley Band among others. We’ll feed ya too, a $10 all you can eat buffet will have more options than you can shake a Bratwurst at. The day will also have face painting, raffle prizes and custom Osktoberfest steins.

Local Races...Local Rains

While I was up in Wyoming kicking it with the crew from KHOL (Jackson Hole Community Radio) and the Jackson Hole Music Festival Eddie continued his run of shooting bike racers getting rained on. Here are some shots from the Boulder Roubaix:
Boulder native, Mara Abbot of High Road/Columbia defended here title by going for a long solo ride in the rain
It was a heavy rock for the winner!
Of all the fields, the pro men were lucky to have sunshine and drying dirt roads.
The early racers faced classic cold wet and muddy conditions.

Photo-Cycle.com also got some of the goods from the North Boulder Crit:
The womens field prior to Mara going on a tear.
The womens field trying to hold Mara's wheel as she picks up the pace. None of them could and she soloed off for another victory on the weekend.
An amazing comeback by this Chipotle rider to rejoin the pack.Pro men gritting it out with a blazing pace.
Jorge Espinoza of Horizon Organic Cycling would go on to outsprint Sean Sullivan of Toyota United and win the Pro Mens crit.

Here's a shot of my buddies Walker & Crawford throwing down the funk on Walkers Friday Night Funk with Tek-Tek.

We're continuing our busy summer by being 6 places at one time. Check us out in Nederland at Nedfest & also at Eldora for the Mountain States Cup. We'll also be at the State Fair in Pueblo this weekend as we prepare for a week with the DNC in town.

Colorado State Championships - Sol Vista

Mountain States Cup round #6 took place at Sol Vista Resort this past weekend with Colorado State Championships named in DH,DS,XC,SD and SS. This was a sick event with the first ever event to be run under the cover of night. Sol Vista resorts & MSC pulled all the stops to throw a mean Dual Slalom event the went off under the lights. The event naturally lent itself to a bit of a party & we made sure we hammered it home by bringing our local favorite band Interstate Stash Express. The mustache competition & the band really catapulted the energy of the evening into intergalactic territory. Speaking of Intergalactic territory here are some shots of the unofficial Intergalactic Pump Track Championships that were also held over the weekend.
Monique stays low
Sam Powers works it through the whoops on his bracket victory, yep he uncorked one ladies & gents. Sam had a sick weekend also winning his category Super-D & Downhill. WORD.
Brian Lopes puts on a show while taking the A main.

Brian Riepe takes the State Championship in the SS class.
Brian & I battled the whole way, I was unable to stay with him on the final climb but hung in there for 2nd.
Michael Vigers put up another strong performance, yep 15 years old. Are those glasses High Definition??

Dual Slalomn...UNDER LIGHTS
Lisa Myklak wins her first State Championship of the weekend.
Hats of to SOl VISTA for an excellent weekend of racing, the lights were a nice touch.
Evan Powell and a Yeti rider dualing it out.
The Mustache Cup was a huge event on a big night.
Interstate Stash Express givin the fans the love from the confines of the Dale's Pale Ale VIP area.

Danae York rode smart & fast to take the Open Women's State Super-D.
Pro Women take to the course before the lightning storm shortened the race.
Jen Gersbach's trusty Spot Brand showing signs of the storm.
Pro Men's DH has tacky dirt after the storm blew through.
Joey Schusler pinned it for the win to become the Colorado State DH Champion.
Mike Kreger boosting one of the many big jumps in the DH. Congrats for his first Pro DH podium.

Thanks to everyone for a great weekend, see you all back at Snowmass for the G3!
