Dellys Starr: Australian National MTB Champion!

Spot Brand rider Dellys Starr took a big step towards her spot on the Australian XC Olympic team by winning the National Title January 27th. 33 Women lined up & were all hoping to win today which would seal a spot on the Olympic shadow squad, but Dell powered away in the first lap and stayed away all day. Being on the shadow squad doesn't mean she's a lock for the Olympics, but today's win is a huge step toward that goal. Congrats Dell, way to rock it!!! Keep an eye out for her XC Short Course results later today.

Native Longboards creates Ten Fidy

We met the passionate folks of Native Longboards at the Steamboat Brewers Festival. This creater of hand made longboards is based out of Denver. After sharing a few beers & ideas they came up with this beauty. To be fair the picture pales in comparison of this baby in the real. The board is beautiful from nose to tail, the silver leaf hand applied stain creates some serious candy in the sun. Native is realatively new so keep an eye out for them as 2008 rolls on. Contact David, Owner, Designer, Builder & Enthusiast at 303-908-8686. Swing into the restaurant to get a view of this baby. You better hurry though, as the snow melts this baby is hittin' the pavement.

Ten Fidy - Beer of The Year, Denver Post

Ten Fidy Imperial Stout by Oskar Blues Brewery, $12.99/four-pack.

Ten Fidy Imperial Stout comes roaring out of the revered Oskar Blues Brewery just in time to warm the Colorado winter. As the late Country Dick Montana of The Beat Farmers used to say, it's just the man for the job, with alcohol by volume at a bristling 10 percent. Don't be scared off by the can — all of Oskar Blues' outstanding brews are packaged in metal.

The pour on this bad boy is rich and viscous, with a head like chocolate icing. The aroma is full of coffee and cocoa, and those hearty flavors wrap nicely around the hops and malt for a smooth, roasty fullness.

The oats used in the brewing process give Ten Fidy a satisfying roundness in the mouth. A hint of molasses balances the barleywine-like 98 International Bitterness Units. The high alcohol content is barely noticeable on the tongue (but trust me, have a driver or call a cab).

This Colorado-proud Russian imperial stout may be a bit pricey, but it's worth it: It's at least one Denver Post writer's beer of the year.

Beer Advocate Magazine's 2007 Top 25

Beer Advocate's December edition boasts it's top 25 picks in many categories. Oskar Blues was named 3 times throughout the 2007 review edition. First of all we were named 8th in the list of America's top 25 breweries of the year.
They did a special grading of 2 of our beers. Ten Fidy was given an overall grade of "A" in the Russian Imperial Stout category. A grade of "A" from these fine folks is no small feat. They also graded our Gordon brew in the "Imperial or Double IPA" category.
Gordon is a tough beer to rate because it truly is a beer of it's own. It's tough to categorize, the hops immediately point to the DIPA but the copper color & malty smoothness blurr the lines of what family this beer truly belongs. All we know is it's damn tasty! Gordon received a "B+" from this group of serious beer fanatics. Props to those few special folks working L O N G hours in the OB brewery to ensure we all get the beer we crave. As the bike riding swings to the skis stick right here for a winter brewery pictorial tour. Hell, if your in the area why don't you just swing on in & ask, we'll take you out for your very own.

Cheers,
