Do you like cans??? We DO
Oskar Blues Brewery is the first US microbrewer to brew and can its own beer.
The brewery's "Canned Beer Apocalypse" (launched in 2002) has changed the way craft beer drinkers perceive canned beer.
It has also helped the company grow by nearly 3000% in just six years, from 700 barrels per year to 20,000.
What makes cans so great?
Thanks to Oskar Blues, they now hold delicious, spine-tingling craft beer.
Unlike beer cans of the past, today’s aluminum can and its lid are lined with a water-based coating. Beer and metal never touch and there is no exchange of flavor.
Aluminum can keeps beer fresher for longer by fully eliminating the damages of light and ingressed oxygen.
Lightweight cans enable Oskar Blues to reduce its fuel costs and carbon footprint for shipped beer by 35%.
Highly portable, unbreakable cans enable craft beer lovers to easily enjoy great beer in places where glass bottles are not welcome or allowed: the beach, pool, boat, trail, river, slope, tub, golf course, backpack and others.
Cans are the most easily and frequently recycled beverage package in the world.
A recycled aluminum can generates 95% less pollution than one made from scratch and requires 96% less energy.
One recycled can saves the energy equivalent of 6 ounces of gas or the electricity to power a guitar amplifier for two hours.

Leadville Winter Series Race #3
Saturday's team time trial hurt so bad I really didn't take many photo's. I can still taste my lungs after the 2 part race that used an overall time from 2 person teams doing 2 seperate circuts, ouch! Regardless, the weather was great & it was a super good time riding, hanging, drinking & eating. Cheers!

Spring Thaw for the Yeti
Our fellow Front Range bike geeks at Yeti have headed for a bit of spring down in Moab. It sounds like they're loaded with plenty Oskar Blues beer & looking down the barrel of a damn fine time. If you're into overgrown, hairy, snow dwelling stink-monkeys that ride bikes & guzzle beer you can check out some info HERE.
Vail Daily - Leadville Winter Mountain Bike Series gets some
Our favorite winter mountain bike series over 10,000 ft got a little press this week in the Vail daily after 65 heathens made it to the start line at 7:00 PM last Saturday at the Tennessee Pass Nordic Center. Check out the story HERE, you can also watch a slideshow of pictures HERE. They caught a glimpse of me, too bad they couldn't see my custom battery holding system.

a new toy in the house
If you made it to Interbike this year you may have seen a few trick items in the Spot Brand / Maverick camp. The Titanium Spot Brand Singlespeed kicking off their newly available line of custom built ti frames certainly was one, the other was the often photographed one-off 29" Maverick Carbon Drive System singlespeed.
This beauty has made its way into the competent hands of Oskar Blues Brewery...& it is pretty.

Good News from Oskar Blues Brewery
Hey all, we have exciting news coming out of Oskar Blues Breweryland. The Tasty Weasel, Oskar Blues' new tasting room will be tapping kegs to kick off our opening this Friday, February 13th, 11am to 8 pm. In addition to kegs, this Friday we'll be starting our Firkin Friday celebrations by offereing a different Firkin each Friday. Just down the street from our future beer bar we'll be offereing an insiders view into our beers & the people behind them. The Tasty Weasel is located inside our new brewing facility on the corner of Sunset & Pike in Longmont. Hours of operation will be weekdays 3pm to 8pm & Saturdays 11am to 8pm. Come join us at the Tasty Weasel as we open our doors to you!
Additionally, Our family of beers coming to you via can will be growing to a full on Basketball Team starting line-up of 5. Our upcoming new canned good is a small-batch version of the beer that made Pilsen, Czechoslovakia famous. Mama’s is made with hearty amounts of pale malt, German specialty malts, and a blend of traditional (Saaz) and 21st century Bavarian hops. Our first canned lager, it’s also fermented at cool temperatures with a German yeast. This tasteful reality Czech is the perfect antidote for the watered-down versions of pilsner clogging America’s shelves. And Mama’s gentle hopping (about 35 IBUs) and low ABV (just 5.3%) mean we’re finally honoring consumer requests for a delicious but less-challenging beer. (Hey, we like a good low-dose session beer, too.) Look for our Gold Metal Winner on US shelves in March. Sadly, the Feds rejected our “Take Two and Call Us in the Morning” line on the can. In addition to our Lyons Brew-Pub & Longmont's Tasty Weasel Mama's will be available year round in Cans & Kegs!

Leadville Winter Series #2
We arrived at the Tennessee Pass Nordic Center in time to enjoy the quick sunset. It was a cool scene with people ready to head out to their dinner at the cookhouse & all the rest of us ready to take 2 wheels to the trails.
It was a fantastic turnout with 65 racers. I opted for a Spot Longboard 9 instead of the usual belt drive. I was happy to have all 9 of the gears too. The 12 mile course had a good amount of up & down but "Fish Flats" a mid race flat section following a sketchy steep descent "Griz" really put the screws to me.
I was stoked, the Redstone Wooley was the perfect answer to the evening's conditions. We had to rig up a "custom" battery holding system after forgetting the cord extension on my light set. We got 'er dialed in & headed to the start line. I hung in the mix and had a good time before everyone headed into the lodge for OB beer & food provided by the cookhouse along with awards & raffles.
Thanks again guys, see you at the one...Cheers!

a little place called ASPEN Highlands
While rockin the X-Games we had to take advantage of the fantastic wrath of old man winter. Armed with onehellofa guide we made the hike to the Highlands bowl. Under the fantastic direction of our guide Matt we waited 15 minutes or so....our patience was rewarded as the hard working ski patrol opened the gate to the Fun Deck where we donned the snorkel & dropped into the beautiful snowy oblivion. Eddie getting 'er rollin' early in the day.
Matt & Eddie know what lies ahead
The group heading out onto the Fun Deck.
The second run of the day...we made it past the fun deck & to 12,392 ft at the Peak Gate. There ski patrol was picking lucky riders one-by-one to drop into what for me was the ride of my life, somewhere between G6 & G8.
Hallelujah!
More backcountry snowmobile action to come...

better late than never....Winter X 13 photo's
Holy smokes...I'm finally dug out of Aspen & getting back on top of the responsibilities I have in this world. You know, the important ones...like selling beer, delivering good times & blogging them. Whew, what a rough one...ya! The X-games truely are a made for TV hollywood scene, complete with bigger than life props & super stars. Here are a few shots from the trusted eye of www.photo-cycle.com
We were the only beer at the event, granted you did have to have the hard to come by VIP pass. Regardless, it was a great opportunity for us to get our beer in front of many new fans & share in the good times with them.
Inside the VIP tent, we were the only game in town on the hill....OB Brew!
Although I'm most likely considered some form an outdoorsman & fitness geek the biggest draw for me was the snowmobile events. Those sleds & crazy slednecks riding them brought out the throttle twisting Wisconsin in me, I couldn't wait to get on a sled....that story is to come before we dug out of Aspen, but for now let's stick to the X-games.
Yep, standard backflip.
Eddie captured this fantastic view during the qualifying heats before the closed down this angle, looks to be one of the best shots of the snowcross I've seen.
Don't get me wrong, the superpipe was L A R G E ! ! ! Breckenridge homeboy Steve Fischer grabbing some tail.
Antti Autti, with a front side grab for 3rd in the Superpipe.
Shaun White wins another Winter X Games Superpipe.
As always, I gotta thank Eddie for the photo's, but that's only the beginning. Thanks for the turns brotato, we have got some shots from our downtime that really hit the spot..mmmm that's tastey. Check out more of Eddies shots from the week HERE.
This one isn't from Eddie but home girl went for it & paid the price. She shook it off but didn't take her 3rd attempt. The ladies were boostin' outta the pipe as well. Cheers for goin for it Gretchen.
Cheers!
