I AM A CRAFT BREWER

I Am A Craft Brewer from I Am A Craft Brewer on Vimeo."I Am A Craft Brewer" is a collaborative video representing the camaraderie, character and integrity of the American Craft Brewing movement. Created by Greg Koch, CEO of the Stone Brewing Co. and Chris & Jared of Redtail Media...and more than 35 amazing craft brewers from all over the country. The video was shown to a packed audience of 1700 craft brewers and industry members at the 2009 Craft Brewers Conference as an introduction to Greg's Keynote Speech entitled "Be Remarkable: Collaboration Ethics Camaraderie Passion." As is tradition for the CBC Keynote, a toast to the audience was offered. This time, the beers offered for the toast were all collaboratively brewed craft beers including Isabella Proximus, Collaboration Not Litigation, AleSmith/Mikkeller/Stone Belgian Style Triple, Jolly Pumpkin/Nøgne-Ø/Stone Special Holiday Ale, and 2009 Symposium Ale "Audacity of Hops."

Old Chub Beer Bread at Whole Foods

Whole Foods stores in the gourmet grocer's Rocky Mountain region are now carrying a special tag-team baked good: Old Chub Beer Bread.

It combines our celebrated Scottish Ale with the wizardry of the company's Rocky Mountain Bakehouse in Aurora.

Each loaf of Old Chub Beer Bread is made with nearly a full can of Old Chub, in a wheaty sourdough base enhanced with a touch of honey and a hearty dose of sunflower seeds.

The loaves are then rolled in the beechwood-smoked malts we use in Old Chub, then baked to glorious perfection.

Andy Clark and his crew at the Bakehouse are now sending this delicious bread to Whole Foods stores across Colorado, and stores in New Mexico, Kansas and Utah.

The bread is found in the fresh bread racks in the bakery section of these stores. It sells for $3.99 and tastes like a million bucks.

We're psyched about our yeasty partnership with Whole Foods. Not to mention the glorious flavor of the bread and the bennies it delivers both of our quality obsessed companies.

gearing up for Mountain States Cup # 1 in Fruita, CO

We're gearing up for Mountain States Cup #1 in Fruita this weekend. Come celebrate the grown up racer version of Spring Break. Here's what happened last year, hope to see you out there.

I made a little gear change on the Spot Brand single speed during my preparations for Gallup & plan to leave 'er dialed in for Fruita this weekend. All 2008 I ran the Carbon Drive System standard issue gearing of 46x28 with a 122 tooth 1342mm belt(remember it's not a chain measurement) that equated roughly to your basic 32x18.5ish standard chain set up aboard a 29er. I started to mix & match belts & sprockets from the cyclocross gear set up(50x24 gearing & a 118 tooth belt, 1298mm) & plan to run the 46x24 this weekend in Fruita. The addition of the Maverick SC32 fork is also under evolution. The first ride on it I was experiencing a good amount of dive in the front end as I entered high speed corners. I was blowing through the travel pretty quickly. Dave & I at Redstone Cyclery added 10cc of oil to the cartridge & it feels a ton better. I've still got some fine tuning to get it super dialed but I'm digging it more & more each ride. I'm looking forward to seeing the boys from Maverick at the Mountain States Cup events this year.

Dawn Til Dusk...

Van is stuck, race is cancelled...we're all stuck in the muck.

We headed south to Gallup, NM to catch race #1 of the Rocky Mountain Ultra series. We pulled into Gallup Friday night just in time to register and catch a beautiful sunset while breifly checking out the course. After a quick ride we headed back to El Rancho to meet up with duo team of Robin & Brenden from Durango. They were having a Dale's Pale Ale with dinner at El Rancho catching up with an old buddy Lloyd our gracious host, thanks man. It was a good evening checking out some stages of the 1992 TDF before hitting bed for an early morning. We got up, made a bit of breakfast & headed to the race site to get set up. Snow & rain welcomed us as we watched some cars turn around & others venture in. We pointed the DPA van to the venue & hit the mud. We got the van lodged & started set up for the delayed 9:00 start. After more snow & rain they postponed start again until 11:00. A sucker hole came out breifly before the snow struck the final blow. The mud was so deep & sticky there really was no escape. The race was eventually cancelled & our cooler became a short term solution to the weather as people started planning their retreat. We got tagged, Gallup style. Lloyd, our host & main man behind the Gallup Trails 2010 tent is wondering WTF? The 2009 Dawn Til Dusk did name one champion...The barrel race champ crosses the line. and gets the reward. Gallup piles were forming in the mud.
Schafer, runner up in the barrel race hiding the shame well behind the hat.
The hard fought semi-final of the barrel race. A battle between Robon Gulliume & Brenden Schafer was an instant classic.
The mud caused problems, there were many solutions...this was one of the more intersting.

Thanks to everyone who rolled with the punches this weekend....thanks for having us Gallup, the course & organization were impressive...I hope the weather treats us better next year.
